Career We Go x PUNDIT: Shaka Hislop

Shaka Hislop started his career with Reading where he became a fan favourite and won player of the year twice. He was actually spotted by a Reading scout while playing an indoor friendly match for his NCAA College Howard University in the US.

However, it was with Newcastle, West Ham, and Portsmouth he became a house hold name in English football. 

Hislop was named the inaugural winner of the PFA Special Merit Award for his services to football in April 2005. He has also been a strong voice for football's 'Show Racism the Red Card' Campaign. 

Being eligible for both the English national team and Trinidad and Tobago, he earned an U-21 cap for England but played 26 games for Trinidad and Tobago from 1999 to 2006.
